This packaging project and label design for the oil ‘Moraiolo’ limited edition is part of a wider redesign work for one of the Italian excellences of the catering industry, the Michelin 3-star restaurant Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence. Before starting the project we were invited to taste the Monocultivar Oil accompanied by the experience of those who know how to evaluate the quality of a great Extra Virgin Olive Oil Bio Chianti Classico D.O.P., a training experience that has traced the shape of the label and its box.
Starting from the shared choice of the bottle we have created a label and a container by assembling and binding together languages and graphic techniques, starting from an illustration and ending with a ‘Moraiolo’ handwritten logo inspired by the ancient amanuensis. The olives of this variety, the Moraiolo, are the last to be harvested. The name derives from the dark, almost black – dark brown – color of its olives when ripe, the dark green color has therefore been used to write texts and signs printed on warm white natural paper adding gold to illuminate some points.
A mix of printing techniques and finishing touches were used, ranging from dry relief to hot gold foil and ending with thick screen printing. The print was made on a natural white cotton paper with a very materic hand. A tactile and visual project that sets the senses in motion and prepares for the tasting of a high quality handmade product, multi-certified in limited edition.
