Background
Fenicio is the idea of a winery from Beqaa Valley, a fertile area in Eastern Lebanon that uses Obideh and Merwah, both indigenous grapes from the region. Started by Carlos Karam, a Phoenician-Spanish descendant whose family has been in the wine-making industry for four generations. The name of the brand “Fenicio” is the Spanish translation of the word Phoenician.

Approach
My main inspiration for this project came from the stories I grew up listening to with my family. They were about the first Hanón, a Phoenician descendant from Lebanon, who arrived to Nicaragua around 1904. The Phoenicians relied heavily on the stars for navigation, the most important being the Pole Star of the Ursa Minor constellation, featured on the bottle. The concept grew out of the idea of navigation, trading and the mixing of cultures across the world. It features a minimal design that appeals to a wide audience.
