'Eureka' , a sub-brand of Philips is a conceptual family of products consisting of environment friendly lighting solutions through their LED and CFL bulbs as well as LED tube lights. As a classroom project, our team was to brand and create a common structural and visual language for the packaging of the range of products. Stackability, facilitation of product testing and easier comprehension of technical data pertaining to the bulb via graphics were the key problem points addressed post market and user research.
The product was designed to reduce the risk of damage during testing period through flaps which expose the base of the bulb such that the package structure is not disturbed while inserting the bulb in the socket to test. The packaging attempts to ensure easy identification through colour coded packages for each bulb according to its temperature.
Icons to eliminate confusion whilst purchase with respect to it's power unit were designed, drawing parallels between the light of the sun over a day's course. The packaging follows the same spirit of the product, minimising its carbon footprint by using uncoated, medium GSM recycled pulp board.
