Packaging guidelines and number of packages were designed to facilitate the production process within the packaging of Qoltec and Monolith brand products.
The principles described in the document allow to achieve visual coherence within the entire product range. The guidelines are important especially for packaging designers, the DTP team and all involved people in the packaging production process.
- All graphical elements are expressed in units of points (pt). Element sizes (graphic signs, iconography) and proportions between them were developed on the basis of the Fibonacci sequence.
- The product range is divided into two brands: Qoltec and Monolith. The Monolith brand is a minor brand of Qoltec. This means that wherever there is a Monolith character there should be a Qoltec sign. The names of both brands are protected in the patent office. The name reservation is valid in Europe.
- The construction of logotypes and signets is based on the Fibonacci sequence expressed in points.
- Key visual
Key visual consist of 4 elements.
- Design space - the format of the medium on which the project will be placed. The carrier background is the base color.
- The space of the complementary color.
- Cut-off lines for the complementary color. As a result, they form a pattern composed of adjacent triangles. The thickness of the line should be selected depending on the size of the design space in the range of 1 to 4 points. The basic thickness should be 1 point. The line color should match the basic color.
- Information layers - content, characters and graphics that make up information about the purpose of the project
The goal of the project was to create not only functional and visually appealing packagings but also to create packaging guidelines (document) that will help other designers and employees to produce next packagings (the client has its own team of graphic designers).
The result was a 25 page long, detailed document presenting all the details and principles of building the packaging.
